Angel?

(Is this a bit obsessive on the amount of blankets I have on the bed for bumpers? As you read on you will understand more about the safety measures I now need to take to keep this girl safe.

If you enlarge this photo (the 3rd photo) you will see a little toe(s) in the top left corner, this is a great trick of Z's, she now is trying to suck her toes. Hahaha, I still think that she may be a gymnist.

I think that my baby is an angel. I am not kidding you! What child goes down for all her naps with smiles and sleeps completely through her first night with a new mom? I put Z to bed last night around 10:00 and she slept until 6:00 this morning with only one small wine (the crying kind, not the kind that mom loves that comes from a tall glass bottle) around midnight. I have learned that she is a crazy sleeper though, I ended up moving her into my bed to sleep since I just knew that she was going to take a dive off the sofa chair bed (okay, so she did take a dive off the sofa chair bed, mom freaked out to say the least, and moved her to the bed, a much safer choice..........don't tell my agency or the judge here though or they may take her back. I promise I was watching her but she was too darn fast.) All night long she tossed and turned and nearly was sleeping sideways at times, needless to say I didn’t sleep sound, but I actually got a couple good hours in so that was better than I was expecting.

Okay, so here is our daily schedule:

6:00 Wake up and Eat Breakfast (Formula)
6:30 – 7:30 Play & Go Potty
7:30 – 9:00 Nap time
9:00 – 10:30 Wash Faces, Eat Porridge and Drink Juice
10:30 – 11:30 Play
11:30 – 12:30 Nap time
12:30 – 1:30 Eat Mashed Potatoes or Vegetables
1:30 – 4:00 Play
4:00 – 5:00 Nap time
5:00 – 6:00 Eat Porridge with a sugar free cookie
6:00 – 8:00 Play
8:00 – 8:30 Formula
8:30 Bedtime
11:30 Formula Again?
12:00 – 6:00 Sleep

Do you see how many nap times this girl has? Is this normal? I thought that there would be no way that she would actually sleep every ‘scheduled’ nap time, but she does (at least so far.) I thought that maybe they say sleep on the schedule given to me by Z’s caregivers but really that is code for, ‘put the kids in their cribs and let them lay there.’ It isn’t though, she really does sleep, without a shot of whiskey or other sleeping aids. Haha (but that was another fear that I had at the baby house. I worried that they possibly ‘helped’ the kids sleep, but she is good with her naps.)

Well, I just heated up her mashed potatoes (see 12:30 – 1:30 on the schedule – good mom Christy) and I put a bit of finely shredded carrots and chicken in there as well as some Keifer. Keifer is a kind of sour tasting milk they have here and the babies enjoy…….I guess. I actually have given it to her twice already and she seemed to love it, so Keifer it is, at least for this week. I will need to start her on normal formula this week too since we don’t have this Keifer stuff in the States.

The caregivers said that she wasn’t a very picky baby and didn’t have any known food allergies, so far so good on not being picky.

IN 5 DAYS WE GET SO SEE GRANDMA AND AUNT BECKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM SO PUMPED!!!! Z IS TOO OF COURSE!!!!

I brought a couple board books with me, “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” and “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” were two of them. She loves those books because I sing the songs to her. So today, I popped in Rudolph the movie, and she loved the music! She didn’t intently watch the movie, but she liked the music. As for me, I cry every time I see that darn movie. I hate that Rudolph is so sad and that nobody wants to play with him. I boycott the movie actually, hadn’t seen it in years.

Ohhh such funny 'getting Z to nap' stories from later today, but I best get to bed, I will save those for another day.

Yes, those frequent naps are normal!! It's part of her greiving process.

At first, like Tasha, I thought perhaps she was sleeping because of stress (do you know anyone else who does this?) but you mentioned that this was her routine at the baby house....right? If so, I imagine they have them trained to sleep like that in order to make caring for many little ones manageable. Our babies took two naps a day (10 and 2) when they were really little, but by 6 months they were down to one afternoon nap. I can't believe what a trooper she is. I can't wait to see her.

three days to take off

Keifer is available here in the US. You can find it in the organic milk section at nicer grocery stores. My little from Russia loves it too :)

I only have my nephews' nap schedules to go by. Those that took naps tended to take two naps/day that lasted about 1.5 to 2hours. Except for one nephew, the boys did not go down as well as Z. You are lucky. :-)

At Z's age, my nephews really liked the Baby Einstein DVDs and the Cedarmont Kids. (I prefer Cedarmont Kids.)

I'm glad to see all is going so well with you & Z!

What a schedule. Sounds like lifestyles of the rich and famous!

She seems like quite the trooper and it sounds like you are doing a great job keeping her in a familiar routine.

Here's to your little angel. May her halo always be shiny! :-)

you are the cutest mom ever. Way to go on the schedule!!!
I'm sure she is just used to sleeping at that time. I don't remember anymore my son's schedule, but he used to do 2 naps, then worked his way into one that was about 2 hours.
She is tres precious.
They do sell Kefir here, I tried it and it was gross. ick.

My boyfreind Ryan just left me. I'm so sad, he was so much fun. He takes one nap, but really could use two. He fell asleep in my ergo today. so sweet!

I have so many cute pics to download but i can't find the usb cable to download my pictures. i am mad right now, but your blog cheered me on up. :)

Glad things are going well!

As far as the naps go, don't look a gift horse in the mouth!

We do have Kefir here - look at any natual food store.

Schedules rock! I swear they are the key (along with good food and sleep) to a content baby.

Zahri is so beautiful. Congratulations Mama! Can't wait to catch up on your story. Love the schedule—it really shows how life changing this whole process is. Now everything centers around your child (as it should). Enjoy this amazing bonding period. It's such a blessing. :-)

Sounds like you are having a lot of fun - schedules and all! One day soon you might appreciate the lots of nap times if you can keep up the schedule. And I'm glad that feeding is going well. I know that last year I was at the gym on the stairmaster reading a 'Parenting magazine' article on feeding regimes and thought "huh, so THAT'S what they eat at 10 months old!" I had no idea! By the way, you CAN get keifer here in the states. It is in the dairy aisle by all of the other pro-biotic stuff that tastes like crap. I think other families have had luck switching to yogurt - same sour after-taste but much sweeter. Have fun you two! Go Rudolph!

How did you get so lucky? I was never, ever good at a "schedule" with my kids. I also never got my kids into the "put them into their cribs and they just fell asleep". When you get home and have her crib, you may get more sleep than you think.

I am so happy that your mom and Becky are going to be there very soon. You are so brave Christy!!!!! Z is so lucky.

I want to nap like that! She soooo cute, and so are you! Glad things are going smoothly!

Wow! Sounds like your first day went well! I swear by schedules and get very grumpy with anyone who wants to throw our schedule off. My kids were never great sleepers, but they usually did a morning and afternoon nap. By about a year, they gave up the morning nap and just a longish afternoon one. Stac
