I Broke Down

Yesterday I broke down and bought Peanut Butter for my trip; I have no idea what the rage is about there being no Peanut Butter in Kaz, I am not a huge PB nut. I have heard this so many times, I decided that I best get that Peanut Butter just in case, who knows when it might come in handy. :) Do you really think that it is important that I bring Peanut Butter? Will I truly miss it if I don't bring it? It does weigh a bit, and I don't need any additional weight that isn't 100% needed.

I'm afraid I'm no help on this one, as I am not a huge PB fan. I had PB for lunch every day for a year when I was in elementary school and now I only like it on chocolate. My husband is a PB nut. We're bringing it.

I think one reason why people bring it is for the protein. If they're real *iffy* on eating the meat there....this is a great way to get protein.

At times if I'm feeling a little low blood sugar, protein is something I need. So, we'll be bringing this & some protein bars too!

I am not a big fan either but plan on bringing it just because I can stomach it and if that has better appeal then the local food then at least I have protein :)

If you don't eat it you can leave it for the next family that comes over.

I didn't take any...and didn't really miss it. I would've wanted it with jelly, and I don't remember ever having jelly either!

I think it's one of those things that you'll miss if you don't have it! I am a pnut butter addict so we'll have the xtra lg jar with us!

Speaking of which, our dossier just went to Kaz! Yay! But it is in record time and I know that we aren't evenly remotely prepared for travel. I was looking at your timeline trying to get an idea of what to expect (we are also with LMI, traveling to select)... once you were assigned a region, your coordinator told you that you would travel in 4-8 weeks. Did she mean that you would actually be on a plane in 4-8 weeks? Or that you would receive an LOI within that time frame (about a 3-week difference)? We are just trying to get a handle on best and worst case scenarios (for work and all). If you could clarify this either via email (altansky@yahoo.com) or on our blog (http://climbingcradlemtn.blogspot.com), we would appreciate it!

I think people take it because they see it as a familiar comfort food. And if you are feeling homesick or tired of being there a scoop of it may make you feel better if only momentarily. That is my guess.

We would be great travelling companions, too bad you're ahead of me! (Well, not too bad for you ;-)) But I LOVE peanut butter (Skippy Creamy only) so that may be a problem ;-)

We took PB but then there was not so good bread to spread it on so we just ate it by the spoonful. However, if I had to do over again I would have taken brownie mix as I could not find anything like that there in Astana. Yes they have sweets but they are not that sweet, sorry for me nothing takes the place of a brownie! and take gum too theirs is kind of hard. Gena Lloyd

Cousins (Izaak wants to name my daughter (his cousin) Isabella, Sant (for 'Santa') or Hershey (his friend's dog's name.) Hmmmm I told him that if we name her 'Hershey,' that would mean that we get to give her a lot of kisses.
